The Incas didn’t have the wheel, or horses. They used llamas and human beings to carry the granite blocks of stone that form the city. It’s believed the granite was extracted from the mountain itself. Although there’s been erosion since Inca workman put the blocks into place in the 15th century, the uniformity is still impressive. These master builders wedged the stone together without using any form of mortar, or cement.
